The Public Sector AI Adaptation Guidelines were developed by JDN in collaboration with the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) as a specialized reference for the public sector. These guidelines aim to ensure responsible and ethical AI adoption, promote efficiency and effectiveness in AI technology and innovation among civil servants.
The ceremony was officiated by the Honourable Minister, Tuan Gobind Singh Deo, alongside the Deputy Director-General of Public Service (Operations), YBhg. Dato’ Mohd Shaiful bin Ibrahim. The event was also attended by the Secretary-General of the Ministry, State Secretaries, Department Heads, Chief Digital Officers (CDOs), Public Sector ICT Managers, and industry partners. Among the key highlights of the event were a sharing session on AI use cases in the public sector and a forum on AI ethics and governance, which was also streamed live via JDN's official social media channels.
The Public Sector AI Adaptation Guidelines, developed by JDN's Digital Consultation Division, comprise six (6) chapters and three (3) appendices serving as references for public sector agencies. The content includes an introduction to AI, ethical principles to be adhered to, roles and responsibilities of key actors, risk management, adaptation methods, and a self-assessment template to help agencies identify the scope and impact of AI in the public sector.
The launch of these Guidelines reaffirms JDN’s commitment to driving digital transformation in the public sector, particularly in artificial intelligence (AI), in line with the vision of a "Sustainable Digital Government as a Catalyst for a Digital Nation", through the development of an innovative, inclusive, and citizen-friendly AI ecosystem in the public sector.
