NATIONAL AI OFFICE TO SHAPE FUTURE OF AI IN MALAYSIA, KEY LEADERSHIP ROLES OPEN TO QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS
KUALA LUMPUR, October 7, 2024 - The Ministry of Digital Malaysia is pleased to announce that Malaysia’s National Artificial Intelligence Office (NAIO) will be launched next month.
Qualified individuals are invited to apply for key leadership roles in the NAIO. This office will serve as the central authority to advance Malaysia’s artificial intelligence (AI) agenda, and position the country as a key influencer in the regional digital landscape.
During its setup and developmental stage, NAIO will be incubated within MyDIGITAL Corporation, an agency under the Ministry of Digital.
Minister of Digital, Gobind Singh Deo said that NAIO will be instrumental in shaping Malaysia’s AI landscape, driving innovations that benefit the rakyat, the government, and industries.
“By promoting cross-sector collaboration, NAIO will position Malaysia at the forefront of AI development and adoption, both nationally and regionally,” added Gobind.
The Ministry of Digital is seeking visionary, innovative, and passionate individuals to pioneer the leadership team at NAIO. Suitable candidates will have the unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of AI in Malaysia, leading efforts to cement Malaysia’s status as a key AI influencer in the region.
“AI is a critical enabler for Malaysia’s future, and we are looking for dynamic leaders who are ready to contribute to national and regional progress,” added Gobind.
Among the openings for key positions are:
● Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
● Director, AI Policy Lab
● Director, AI Innovation Exchange
The establishment of NAIO signals Malaysia’s strategic push to harness the transformative power of AI – driving initiatives that enhance the country’s AI capabilities, strengthen the digital economy, and support sustainable development.
The Ministry of Digital, through NAIO, aims to accelerate initiatives to help achieve the Government’s key outcomes related to AI over the next 12 months. They include the completion of the AI Technology Action Plan (2026-2030); the establishment of a regulatory framework to increase adoption of ethical and sustainable AI technology; and expediting AI adoption in key sectors nationwide.
The vacancies for the positions were advertised since September 30, 2024 and the deadline for applications is on October 11, 2024.
